This was the yearly celebration time at BMCHRC (Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital & Research Centre), Jaipur on the 15th of October 2022. It was a moment of pride for everyone associated with the organization to partake in its silver jubilee celebrations. That marked its successful journey as a comprehensive cancer treatment facility. Fond remembrances of BMCHRC’s humble beginnings elevated the silver jubilee celebrations for everyone present.

The crowning stroke was the presence of Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Hon’ble Vice President of India as a chief guest for the occasion. While addressing the audience Shri Jagdeep Dhanker appreciated the hospital for its service to society. He also appreciates its excellence in cancer care specialties and its world-class infrastructure. He highlighted “India’s philosophy teaches us to give back to the society as much as we can.” The Vice President of India said when the breadwinner of the family is affected observing how cancer affects families adversely. This kind of impact it has on the family members is unimaginable.

Along with Shri Navrattan Kothari, Chairman, BMCHRC, Smt Anila Kothari, Senior Vice Chairperson, Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, and Smt Sunita Gehlot the celebration witnessed the presence of industry experts and other distinguished personalities of the society.

History

Mansagar Lake was a polluted wasteland just a few years ago, and Jal Mahal was a crumbling wreck. Later, the restoration of Jal Mahal and Mansagar Lake was undertaken by an individual who had fallen in love with his native city, Navrattan Kothari Pride of Rajasthan. That the magic of the water palace has been recreated is the result of an incredible endeavor. This is due to integrating the talents of experts, historians, craftsmen and builders along with philanthropist Navrattan Kothari.

It was in ruins when restoration work began, and even century-old photos showed only crumbling structures. Jal Mahal was taken care of by the team after a lot of investigation was done by Navrattan Kothari’s team. They researched the materials, forms, and features of the monuments in great detail before beginning the reconstruction.  The rich vegetation on the terrace was traced down from surviving elements. Which was reconstructed, keeping the authenticity intact, as soon as the renovation work began.

Founded on 16th October 1997, Cancer Care is an associate body of BMCHRC which provides psychological aid to the patients and their attendants. It is registered as NON PROFIT ORGANISATION, which came into existence with an objective of cancer awareness.

Mr. Sanjay Kothari, Vice- Chairman, KGK Group

Mr. Sanjay Kothari is one of the three sons of Mr. Navrattan Kothari and is based in Hongkong and ensures the presence of the group worldwide. He entered the group as the family’s fourth generation and added his dynamic and passionate vision to the group. As the Vice-Chairman of the group, he has been the main force behind the group’s achievements. Under his able guidance, the group has taken the wiser leap from mining to manufacturing and from marketing to distribution. Restoration By KGK Group

In 2005, the restoration work of the monument began by KGK Group as envisioned by Mr. Navrattan Kothari and the task was disheartening at first. The lake, on which the palace stands, was an environmental disaster and the palace was slowly abating into a ruin.

KGK Group took up the task of reinstating the Jal Mahal and got numerous experts national and international, traditional craftsmen, architects, historians and experts of art, culture and design involved in this thought-provoking project. Experts at KGK Group studies every little detail carefully, given the historic importance of Jal Mahal.

Restoring Jal Mahal was not enough, even the lake on which it stood needed a massive transformation. The drains  were flowing into it were diverted and two million tones of toxic silt was dredged away. After adding water treatment system a lot of local vegetation and fish have flourished in the lake. This improvement in the environment has brought back the migratory birds to the surrounding wetlands.

The Jal Mahal is again a sight to feast your eyes on and it continues to charm travelers who come from all parts of the globe to enjoy its exquisiteness and history.
