The Beginning Of A Great Career

Navrattan Kothari joined his father’s gemstone business in the year 1960 when the KGK Group was already dealing in coloured gemstones from Jaipur to various cities of India.

Mr Kothari established new channels for the booming business, which was initially focused on coloured gemstone trading. In 1972-73, he introduced diamond trading which became a pivotal point in the KGK Group’s history.

Success could have come easy to him because of his illustrious legacy, but he opted to take the road less travelled. From the ground up, he learned the ins and out of his business the hard way. Apart from his famed surname, he left everything behind in Jaipur when he embarked on his first business venture in Chennai.

Today, sourcing and manufacturing plants are present in several regions, including Botswana, Angola, Russia, Brazil, and Mozambique. Mr Navrattan Kothari, the KGK Group’s patriarch, has forged partnerships with international gemstone companies such as De Beers, Rio Tinto, and Alrosa.

The Philanthropist

Navrattan Kothari is a great and reputed businessman, but it is his humanitarian approach to uplifting society and assisting the underprivileged that has had the most impact on people’s lives. His philosophy that “the welfare of one is tied to the welfare of all” is reflected in the contributions he and the KGK Group have made to society as corporate citizens. He has personally taught over 4000 people how to work with stones and jewellery.

He has also made an immense contribution to society through the Non-Profit medical institution of Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital and Research Center (BMCHRC). The hospital majorly focuses on providing cancer care services to underprivileged patients living in remote areas of Rajasthan and neighbouring states. Today, Navarattan Kothari’s work for social causes is well-known across the country.

The KGK Group took up the restoration of Jaipur’s beauty, the Jal Mahal, in 2005. Mr Kothari hired the top architects, art lovers, and engineers to restore this renowned palace to its former magnificence. In addition, through KGK Realty, Navrattan Kothari has been actively involved in redefining the landscape of Jaipur’s real estate.

For more than 50 years, Navrattan Kothari has nurtured the business. Also, he helped it grow to cover leaps and bounds across the world. As a result of his efforts, the KGK Group has reached its pinnacle and is continuing to set new benchmarks.
